Taliban rule and its impact on Afghanistan

After the Afghan President fled the country and American forces withdrew from Afghanistan, the Taliban captured the capital city of Kabul on August 15, 2021. This led to the Taliban's return to power for the second time. The Taliban's first period of rule took place between 1996 and 2001. The İslamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban) has been trying to gain international recognition since it came to power in 2021. However, after two years in power, the Taliban has yet to achieve this goal. This is because the Taliban was designated as a terrorist organization by the international community during its first period of rule from 1996 to 2001. This study will examine the origins and rise to power of the Taliban, which emerged during the civil wars in Afghanistan, as well as their return to power in 2021 after twenty years of war, and the possibility of the Taliban being recognized as a legitimate state by the international community, using a qualitative method.
