Abstract (EN)
In this study, the effect of mechanical activation on cordierite formation was examined. The powder mixtures of Alumina-Kaoline-Talc was mechanically activated using a planetary mill for 2 hours.XRD, SEM and DTA analysis were made on non activated raw powders. After 2 hour of mechanical activation process were repeated the same analysis of activated powders (XRD, SEM, DTA).Both activated and non-activated samples were calcined at different temperatures (1250, 1300, 1325, 1350 and 1375º C) for 1 hour, and the formation of cordierite phase was examined by X ray diffraction analysis. It was determined that the mechanical activation decreased the formation temperature of mullite and cordierite.
