A NEW SEQUENCING METHOD FOR MIXED MODEL ASSEMBLY LINESIN JUST IN TIME PRODUCTION SYSTEMS(M.Sc. Thesis)Fatih Y Ğ TGAZ UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYSeptember 2006ABSTRACTIn this thesis, the problems of sequencing mixed models on assembly lines inJust in Time Production Systems considered. One of the aims of mixed-modelsequencing, keep a constant rate of part usage, determined as the aim of thisthesis and on this aim a new method recommended as an alternative to twoheuristic methods which are developed bu Miltenburg and Sinnamon. Two heuristic methods in literature and a new method that was developed, tryto minimize the difference between the actual part usage amount and the idealpart usage amount at the all levels of production. The recommended methodtakes into consideration the model which will be sequenced two step after whileminimizing this difference. This situation provides better sequences. In this thesis, problem sets are formed according to different demand amountsand for each three methods, solutions are maked and results are considered.Science Code : 906.1.141Key Words : Just in time production, sequencing problems, mixed-model assembly linesPage Number : 78Adviser : Prof. Dr. Bilal TOKLU
