Abstract (EN)

in SUMMARY Ph.D. Thesis THE ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVES IN THE FULLY IONIZED PLASMA Ali YEŞİL Firat University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Physics 2002, Page: 113 In this thesis, the electromagnetic waves in the fully ionized plasma have been studied. The effects of the adiabatic sound speed (U« ) on the electrical conductivity of the plasma and the propagation of the electromagnetic waves have been investigated. If the wave propagates parallel to the Earth's magnetic field, Ua affects only northward and upward conductivities while the wave propagates perpendicular to the Earth's magnetic field, Ua affects all the conductivities. The effects of Ua on the propagation of low and high frequency waves have been investigated. While the values of k2 increases up to haJ^ height, after this height it decreases. The maximum and minumum values of k2 are obtained around local noontime and the sunrise, respectively. It is shown that the magnitudes of the conductivities and k2 increase with U0. Key Words: Conductivity, Ionosphere, Waves in the plasma
