A quantitative study on the relationship between perception of God, psychological well-being and self-esteem

The primary objective of this research is to scrutinize the interconnections among psychological well-being, perceptions of God, and self-esteem. Employing a quantitative research methodology, the study utilized the relational scanning model. The participant cohort consisted of 341 adults aged 18 and above. Data collection transpired in October 2022, employing a survey form developed through Google Forms. The instruments employed included the "Personal Information Form," "Psychological Well-Being Scale," "God Perception Scale," and "Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale." Additionally, queries related to subjective religiosity perception, parental attitudes, and parental religious beliefs were appended to the aforementioned scales. The amassed data underwent analysis through the SPSS package program, employing statistical techniques such as t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson Correlation Analysis. The findings revealed noteworthy distinctions in psychological well-being, God perception, self-esteem, and demographic variables (excluding income level and profession). Specifically, discernible disparities were noted in educational attainment, health status, and maternal attitude concerning psychological well-being. Furthermore, statistically significant relationships were identified between age, gender, marital status, health status, maternal attitude, maternal religious belief, and perceptions of God. Noteworthy differences in age, health status, and maternal attitude concerning self-esteem were also discerned. In conclusion, the research results delineate positive and statistically significant correlations between psychological well-being and perceptions of God and self-esteem. Particularly, a noteworthy positive association was established between the perception of God and self-esteem.
