Abstract (EN)
Epidemic diseases have deeply affected the place of humanity on the stage of history from the moment they appeared on the stage of history. So much so that when we look at epidemics with a very wide range of effects such as plague, cholera, malaria, smallpox, typhoid, typhus, they even caused the collapse of great civilisations. Epidemic diseases, which have caused many people to lose their lives in history, have also brought great destruction. In the second half of the XIXth century and early XXth century, Teke Sancak was affected by epidemic diseases. According to the 1864 dated provincial regulation dated 1864, Teke Sanjak, which was affiliated to Konya Province, was located in a wide geography including Antalya (Istanos, Mortuna districts), Akseki (Düşenbe, İbradi, Senir), Alanya (Manavgat), Elmalı (Finike, İğdir maa Kardıç, Kaş, Kalkan) and Kızılkaya (Beşkonak, Karaöz, Millû, Serik). Due to its geographical location, Teke Sanjak, which was on the route of merchant ships and had a seaside coast, was always open to epidemics and the negative consequences of these diseases. In this study, the epidemic diseases that emerged in Teke Sanjak in the second half of the XIXth century and the beginning of the XXth century are evaluated in the light of documents and the measures taken to prevent the spread of diseases and minimise the effects of existing diseases.
