Takvim-i Vekayi as a source for academic researchs about history (1831-1840)

The newspapers are diaries that present evolution of societies. Researchs about press history are not only type of present a newspaper, but also they provide chances to understand reactions of societies, ideas that emerged during this process and contributions of newspapers for evolution of societies and society conciousness because of this. Takvim-i Vekayi was the beginning of Turkish periodicals and it had been issued by Ottoman government and so it had supported official arguments. On the other hand, it had informed developments about scientific, technical, social and politics of other states. So, Takvim-i Vekayi had lead to begin movement of publication in following period and to emerge of modern Nation of Turk's vision because of reaction from a part of officers and civils against official arguement in 1860's and so various movement of ideas had been propounded that will continue to affect modern Turkey and its posterities. Based on this importance, we tried to prepare this work instead of missing indexes of Takvim-i Vekayi. We also aimed to contribute to studies which will prepear about Takvim-i Vekayi and Turkish press history, to use much more Takvim-i Vekayi by reseachers and to find informations by researchers working about Takvim-i Vekayi and others immediately in this way. Though some collections of Takvim-i Vekayi are exist, Hakkı Tarık Us Collection has been used in this work. Also, Collection of Anadolu University and Collection of İzmir National Library have been used for missing issue of Hakkı Tarık Us Collection. News that classify according to theme and issue date had been presented to researchers as summary as index.
