Abstract (EN)
The question of how to teach history appears as a problem as much as the question of how to write history does. Determining how to teach history will help forming history programs. However, what to teach in history lectures is one of the topics discussed ferquently by historians. Actors and actress of the history have been reflected differently on history textbooks. As the research related to women increases recently, role of the women in teaching history are evaluated, as well. The first part of this work discusses the images of Turkish women presented at secondary school level text books. Additionally, reasons behind the formation of these images are questioned. In the second part of this work a questionnaire is conducted by asking two questions to teachers and students. Based on the results of the questionnaire, the relation between women in textbooks and the answers provided by the students and teachers are evaluated. The survey is applied to 707 students and 73 teachers chosen at 7 different high schools chosen in Ankara. The results of the research are evaluated in terms of their possible contribution subject of teaching history and several suggestions are derived from them.
