Abstract (EN)
Historical structures constitute an important part of our cultural heritage, and the protection, restoration and safety of these structures are among the most important challenges faced by today's engineering and architectural disciplines. Especially the negative effects of natural disasters such as earthquakes on historical structures are of particular importance in terms of protecting these structures. In this context, understanding the behavior of structures against earthquakes is of great necessity in terms of engineering practices. Hatuniye Madrasah, an important structure from the Seljuk period located within the borders of Karaman province, has great importance both in terms of architecture and history. However, such historical structures may undergo various deformations over time and their structural safety may be threatened especially under dynamic loads such as earthquakes. Therefore, a detailed examination of the earthquake behavior of Hatuniye Madrasah and the evaluation of its structural safety will be a critical step for both protection and restoration studies. In this thesis, structural modeling will be performed using SAP2000, one of the modern engineering software, in order to examine the earthquake behavior of Karaman Hatuniye Madrasah. The analyses to be conducted aim to reveal the current structural behavior of the madrasah, to determine its earthquake-resistant capacity and possible weak points. The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the current structural condition of Hatuniye Madrasah from a scientific perspective, to determine how the structure will behave during an earthquake and to present suggestions to minimize possible risks. The study consists of three main sections. In the first section, general information about the protection of historical structures and earthquake engineering will be given. Then, the history and structural features of Karaman Hatuniye Madrasah will be discussed. The second section includes the literature section on studies conducted on historical structures. In the third section, the methodology for structural modeling and earthquake analysis with SAP2000 will be explained in detail and theoretical information about the elasticity modulus and compressive strength of stone and mortar materials will be presented in a table. In the last section, the analysis results will be evaluated and strategies for the protection of historical structures will be suggested.
