Özet (EN)

One of the steps of regarding protection and survival of the historical city centers is to ensure these areas integrating with its near areas, in other words to design correctly the natural movements because of the space pattern. A part of the needed data to understand and design the space is obtained from questionnaires and counts, the others are obtained by examining the physical characteristics such as space method. However, the studies point out that the considering only the data obtained by the space syntax method is not going to be sufficient for proper designing. In this thesis; a system supported by the space method and density analysis that are some of the spatial analyses techniques, has been developed which can be used in historical city centers. The study started with space syntax method analyses about Historical City Center of Antalya and its neighborhood. The level of relation between the data obtained and the pedestrian counts collected in the area was counted and a motion pattern was produced based on the value of local integration. This motion pattern was supported by density analyses to make new suggestions for designing natural movement in historical city centers. Keywords: Space syntax method, natural movement, Antalya, historical city center, movement modelling, pedestrian access
