Vocabulary of clothes and clothing in the historical Turkic dialects

Abstract (EN)

One of the sources of cultural identity studies is the field of clothes and clothing. Rlying on the concepts of cloth and clothing, it is possible to describe and follow the way of life of a given culture, its conceptualization of the world, and the cultures it is influenced by. The increase in the number of the studies examining these concepts will contribute to both linguistic and cultural history. The present dissertation consists of six chapters. In the first part, which is titled "Clothing Words" the clothing concepts are classified; attestations were shown to the extent that they could be determined from the dialects/dialects in which the words in question were used, and information about the nature and usage of the concept the words refer to is also included. In the second part, titled "The Source of Words of Clothes and Clothing and Their Morphology", the sources of words of clothes and clothing, morphological information on those of Turkic origin were presented. Besides information on the form and meaning of the words of foreign origin were given as much as possible. The chapter "The Suffixes Used in the Words of Clothes and Clothing" contains information about the derivation, voice and participles and in these words and also the examples of words in which these suffixes appear. The fourth chapter is titled as "Phonology of Words of Clothes and Clothing". The fifth part is the "Glossary" section, in which all the words appear in the dissertation are given in alphabetical order. The sixth chapter is "The Word Index", which indicates the pages where the words od clothes and clothing appear in the thesis. The aim of the present dissertation is to grammatically analyze the vocabulary of clothes and clothing in historical Turkic dialects.The analysis prove that the majority of the words evaluated are of Turkic origin, that a significant part of these words are formed by certain roots, that the perspectives of this field remained the same, although the Turks experienced changes that would directly affect their culture in the historical process.
