Abstract (EN)

This study named Direction Names in Historical Turkic Dialects is a thematic vocabulary analysis created by scanning Orhon, Uyghur, Karahanlı, Khwarezm and Kipchak periods and certain selected works from those periods. This study, which was prepared as a master's thesis, consists of two parts: A Brief Overview of the Historical Turkic Dialects Field and Thematic Vocabulary Analysis. In the title of the first part, A Brief Overview of the Historical Turkic Dialects Field, the above-mentioned periods, the literary works of the periods were mentioned and a brief introductiond of the works belonging to there periods was made. In the second part; which cover the main purpose of the study; Direction names belonging to these five periods were scanned from various text and subjected to a thematic classification. Then, by making a periodic comparison, both the periods in which the term is used and the periods in which it does not occur are indicated respevtively. The aim of this period comparison is; The aim is to show the developmental stage of the expression in language geography, its origins and how the field of meaning has changed over the centuries. The scope of the study show that the names of directions were not affected much in relations with other nations, only certain words (such as şarḳ ~ ġarb) were brought into the language in these five periods examined, it has been determined that the words have many similarites and have undergone minor differences with the language charecteristics of the periods.
