Abstract (EN)

Within the scope of this thesis, the earthquake damage limits of the walls forming historical masonry structures were investigated. During the studies, especially the multi-leaf cut stone walls without rigid diaphragms and which have long unsupported length in out-of-plane direction were examined. In this context, the effect of the recent earthquakes on historical masonry structures was investigated and studies on the seismic assessment of historical masonry structures were compiled. Ambient vibration tests and semi-destructive tests were carried out on the courtyard walls of a historical masonry case structure, and the dynamic characteristics and material properties of the structure were estimated. The obtained parameters were used in outof-plane quasi-static tests of large-scale laboratory specimens and numerical analyses. Macro and meso-scale simulations of laboratory tests were performed with numerical models consist of finite elements. In addition, the seismic behavior of the courtyard walls of historical masonry case structure was evaluated with kinematic analysis approach, nonlinear static pushover analysis and nonlinear dynamic analyses.
