Abstract (EN)

Historical Peninsula is the most important area of Istanbul and Turkey, with its many extending centenary historical constitutions and its advantaged geographical location. This area has accommodated 3 important empires (Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman) throughout a period of 2700 years by shading light on the history. Another important feature of Historical Peninsula is its beautiful silhouette. This area has always attracted Tourists? interest due its mentioned features. It is a fact that lightning of such a significant area is inevitable. In the first chapter, aims and comprises of the works have been explained. In the second chapter, has been given some knowledge about urban lighting In the 3rd chapter, has been given some knowledge about history of Historical Peninsula?s and has been done region analyses. In the 4th chapter, has been researched important buildings of Historical Peninsula?s and has been determined precedence necessary lighted elements. In the 5th chapter, has been researched the night effects of Historical Peninsula?s to Istanbul silhouette. In the 6th chapter, has been determined to lighting criteria, which have been decided about lighting of Historical Peninsula. In the 7th chapter, lighting has been suggested to unlighted buildings and has been made example calculations by lighting program. In the last chapter, has been made general evaluations of works.
