Russian-German relations in the historical process and the effect of the Ukrainian war on Germanys security and defense policy

In this thesis, it was aimed to investigate the effects of the Russia-Ukraine war on German defense and security policy. The economic and political repercussions of the war on Germany have been investigated and the historical relations between Russia and Germany have been evaluated. Dec. Historical energy relations between Russia and Germany were mentioned because Ukrainian president Volodimir Zelensky accused Angela Merkel in particular in the context of energy relations with Russia due to the war that Russia launched on Ukraine. Considering the security of Europe and the security of Germany, Germany, which keeps its defense budget low and is often criticized by the United States and NATO allies for this reason, has decided to increase its defense budget, taking into account the leadership role it also plays within the EU. It was announced by Chancellor Olaf Scholz that a special fund of 100 billion euros will be established and this fund will be used for investment and armament projects.
