Determination of optimum conditions in adsorption with agricultural waste

Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study; agricultural waste which is reduced the particle size some degree to use as an adsorbent. Adsorption properties of Agricultural wastes are due to wide surface area, surface functional groups and microporosity. The structure and surface properties of agricultural waste were examined by FTIR, XRD, SEM, and Boehm titration. The adsorption performances of the agricultural waste (FK and BK) were investigated by using methylene blue. The effects of contact time, temperature, and the amount of methylene blue were also investigated. The adsorption data of FK isotherm is better with Langmuir and Redlich-Peterson models than other models. The adsorption data of BK isotherm better with Langmuir and Temkin models than others. The error analysis of adsorption models have been done by using of R2, MPSD, ARE, X2 and SRE. Kinetic experiments have been applied at temperatures of 25, 40 and 50 oC. Constant of adsorption rate, and activation energy have been determined by pseudo first, pseudo second order equations. Results show that the adsorption of methylene blue from aqueous solution onto FK and BK proceeds according to the pseudo second order reaction. Thermodynamics of the adsorption systems have been determined as a function of temperatures of systems. The results indicate that the methylene blue adsorption processes are spontaneously.
