Analysis of partner member relations and management structure of agricultural development cooperatives in terms of legislation

Agricultural development cooperatives are the most organized and the most numerous cooperatives for agricultural purposes in Turkey. The fields of activity of agricultural development cooperatives are those that will directly affect the income of the producers because they have important agricultural production such as animal husbandry, crop production, packaging, storage and transportation. The main purpose of this study is to examine agricultural development cooperatives in terms of legislation and to contribute to providing their services in a more effective structure by bringing concrete solutions to the solution of problems in the services of cooperatives. In this research, the aspects of agricultural development cooperatives that are successful or successful will be discussed in terms of the relevant legislation rules and it will be tried to determine the deficiencies arising from the legislation. In line with this main purpose; The socio-economic characteristics of the managers of agricultural development cooperatives, the fields of activity of the cooperatives, the services provided by the cooperatives to their members, the management and governance structures were examined. With the proportional sampling method, a survey was conducted with the managers of 62 agricultural development cooperatives operating in the provinces of İzmir, Konya and Ankara. The obtained data were interpreted with multiple concordance analysis, cross tables and percentage distributions. The problems faced by cooperatives depending on the legislation and legislation; lack of education, organizational capacity, lack of capital, corporate governance, legislation and agricultural policy issues. One of the most important findings of this research is that the economic and social benefits that cooperatives provide to their partners vary according to their fields of activity.
