Abstract (EN)
The aim of the study was to develop a method for the determination of the adaptability level of a structure and impermanent adaptable architectural detail design for the structures to be designed in the future. In addition to grading the adaptability of existing detail design of any architectural structure, the method is formed with the idea that there is a need for a guiding tool for new designs. Adaptability competency resulting from detail design refers to achieving the design flexibility within the structure itself on the smallest scale as well as the transformation of the entire structure on an increasing scale. On the largest scale, it contributes to sustainability by reusing the limited resources on earth while chaotic destruction processes evolve into transformation processes. The understanding of the way the components forming architectural detail connect to each other is the key to the control mechanism that will allow the structure to be changed and transformed at every stage of the structure's existence. This key refers to the principles of readability, interventionability, and simplicity shaping the connection patterns that allow the adaptability of the detail. Accepting these principles as benchmark, the study was conducted by establishing a relationship with other elements affecting architecture. The study benefited from grounded theory approach and interactive approach in qualitative research design. In accordance with these approaches, the analysis method was set forth as a model. As a method, sample analysis was performed in the model formation. Sample group was determined and flow charts and data tables of analysis steps were prepared. In the process of sample organizing, one structure with vernacular construction systems based on handicraft of civil architecture and another structure with modern construction systems were selected. Thus, a comparative analysis of two opposing structures evaluated in two extreme points which are civil and contemporary in terms of construction systems. The relationships between analysis and detail design, construction systems and their composing elements were defined and the figures of comparable results were obtained. A new approach aimed at the relationship between construction and transformation speed indicating structure's adaptability level was suggested.
