Abstract (EN)
In the environment of freedom and freedom that emerged after the Second Constitutional Monarchy in the Ottoman Empire, as in other fields, the activities of establishing societies and publishing magazines started as an innovation in Sûfî circles. With this new field of activity, Sûfî circles wanted to achieve their goals such as finding solutions to their internal problems, reviving the understanding of Sûfîsm and tariqah, which had started to lose its popularity in the eyes of the society, and responding to the accusations made against them. The Journal of Sûfîsm also draws attention as a publication that existed in this period. The Journal of Sûfîsm was published between March 1911 and December 1911 under the concession of Sheikh Safvet Efendi and only 35 issues were published. The journal drew attention with its opposition to Abdulhamid II, its sympathy for the Committee of Union and Progress, and its defense of the Constitutional Monarchy. In addition to these, the Journal of Sûfîsm, which evaluated the current situation of the scholarly class and the madrasas, the Sûfîya class and the tekke in history, did not remain insensitive to the political, military, social, cultural situations and events of its period. However, in general, it is a periodical that contains articles with Sûfî content and often excerpts from literary works. In addition to Sheikh Safvet Efendi, the Sûfî Journal, which did not have a regular staff of writers, included articles by many others such as Haydarîzâde İbrahim Efendi, Muhammad Asad Erbilî, Mehmed Emin Bukhârî, Sheikh Remzi-i Rifâî, and Muhammad Şâkir. In addition, the lives and sayings of past scholars and Sûfîs were published and some parts of their works were included in articles. This study aims to investigate and reveal the perspective of the Sûfî Journal on the political, social and cultural events of the period.
