Examination of bussed education system application according to teacher opinions

of Mardin on the problems they face in bussed education applications were examined. This is a mixed model study. Quantitative and qualitative research methods were used together in this study. Consecutive method of the mixed models was used in this study. First, quantitative data were acquired in this study after which qualitative research method was used to obtain richer and more in depth data. The target population of the quantitative section of the study was comprised of 590 teachers working at 20 secondary schools in the district of Kızıltepe during the 2014-2015 academic year. Whereas the sample group was comprised of 428 teachers working at 20 schools selected randomly from among the secondary schools in the district center. The data acquired in the quantitative section were analyzed via SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) package software. Arithmetic average and standard deviations were calculated during data analysis. "General Status Evaluation Scale for Bussed Primary Education Application" developed by Ülker (2009) for examining the general state of bussed primary education system was used as data acquisition tool in the study. Semi-structured interview form was used for collecting qualitative data. Qualitative data were collected by way of interview method. Interview data were examined one by one, then evaluated together with the notes on the related interview after which their codes were put forth and reported. Content analysis method was used for the analyses carried out. Categorical and frequency analysis methods were used for content analysis. It was observed according to the results obtained from the study that the teacher opinions were low on the physical status, transportation status, food status and education status regarding the sufficiency of the bussed education application.
