Abstract (EN)

Refunctıonalızatıon Of Immovable Cultural Propertıes As Museums: An Example Of Alanya Red TowerUsing Immovable Cultural Property according to the needs and desires in order to protect the cultural and historical heritages is one of the main topics of the world architecture. Therefore, many Immovable Cultural Properties are made functional again by following the required measurements today. Alanya Castle is located at the heights of the remainder of Alanya, which is a popular destination for tourism in the Mediterrenan Region. It is one of the most valuable cultural heritages of us and the best-preserved medieval castles among the hundreds of castles in Anatolia. A project named ?Red Tower and Tophane Axis? is developed by Alanya Archaelogical Museum and Municipality of Alanya to protect the Red Tower, Shipyard so-called Tersane, the Lower Castle Bath, Girene Fountain, Tophane (Arsenal) and various undefined buildings by emphasizing the relationship between the sea and the mentioned historical heritages.The aim of this study is to assess the octagonal shaped Red Tower in terms of contemporary museology approach and make use of it under the name of ?Maritime and Ship Museum? within the ?Red Tower and Tophane Axis Project?. Furthermore, its aim is not only to introduce 785 year- old historical heritage remained from Seljuk periods to the potential visitors but also contribute to the development of museology.
