NON-STATIONARY STOCHASTIC ANALYSIS OF VEHICLE RIDE CHARACTERISTICS (M.Sc Thesis) Tuncay KARAÇAY GAZİ UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY December, 2001 ABSTRACT Ride characteristic of a vehicle moving on a rough ground with changing travel velocity is analysed in this thesis. Solution is difficult due to the non-stationary characteristic of the problem, so a new technique has been developed to analyse ride characteristic of a vehicle with changing velocity in time/frequency domain. Actual road roughness profile has been employed instead of their mathematical functions, in order to observe high frequency harmonics of ride characteristics as well as low frequency characteristics. Effect of vehicle and suspension system parameters are also investigated with this technique beside effect of different parameters of spectral analysis techniques.
