Özet (EN)

Brake systems which are a part of active safety systems of motor vehicle and theirperformance have been investigated. Various methods of test and Standards of testwere improved in order to determine correctly brake performance and stoppingdistance. In this study, factors affected to brake performance, effects of verticalload which affects braking distance were investigated and a mathematical modelwas obtained from test which made. Being passenger and/or load except driver inmotor vehicles increases stopping (braking) distance. Load is effective on brakeperformance. In experiments, six automobiles and two panels van were used.Three of the six automobiles and one of the panel vans have ABS braking system.Free weigh of these vehicles are between 900 kg and 1300 kg. Serial tests whichare suitable standards at 50, 80, 90 and 120 km/h speeds were tested. Vehiclewhich have ABS and are without loads stopped in shorter distance.2006, 114 pagesKey Words: Brake performance, Brake tests, Stopping distance, Weight ofvehicle.iv
