Tatarli Höyuk black on red pottery and red group pottery and micromorphological features

Tatarli Höyük is located on the eastern border of Adana, within the borders of Tatarli village, 5 km from Mustafabeyli district of Ceyhan district. As a result of the excavations carried out under the direction of Assoc. Prof. Dr. K. Serdar Girginer since 2007, it is understood that there was a continuous stratification from Neolithic to Hellenistic Period. In this statigraphy, a rich repertoire of ceramics was formed as a result of the excavations in the Middle and Late Iron Age levels. Among these ceramic groups, Black on Red (BoR) ceramics, which constitute the subject of the study, are commonly seen in Iron Age settlements in Cilicia. These ceramics were divided into two groups as Cyprus-Phoenician import and local production. It is known that these ceramics were put into local production with the ovens in Gözlükule and Kinet Höyük. Although the definitions of imported and local forms have been made, no characterization has been made due to the scarcity of excavations and the limited number of publications of BoR ceramics. The creation of local and imported ceramic typology depends on the publication of BoR ceramics in the regional excavations as well as the archaeometric analysis of the ceramics and clay deposits in the region. In this way, Cyprus and Cilicia clays can be compared and possible production workshops will be identified. In this context, Tatarlı Höyük BoR ceramics are evaluated in archaeological and archaeometric framework and it is aimed to contribute to the discussions and new studies on this ceramics group. Ceramics were grouped according to their forms. The forms were compared with Cyprus and Cilicia samples according to their lining and decoration features. As a result of archaeological archaeometric evaluations, it was concluded that the overlapping juglet samples of Tarsus Gozlukule and Karatepe were made in the same production center
