Abstract (EN)
Tatvan Harbor is located in a naturally sheltered bay on Lake Van. Train-ferry transportation is carried out by wagons over Lake Van on the Istanbul-Iran railway. In 2018, with the investment of 323.5 million Turkish Liras, two ferries approximately 4 times the size of old ferries were built and launched. The international conventions to which we are a party and the increase in environmental awareness in the society, the rational use of resources, sustainable development and the reduction of environmental problems that may arise while developing have revealed Green Port practices in port operations. Work has started in 2019 to give Tatvan Ferry Operations Directorate a green port feature. Applications of Integrated Management Systems such as Environmental Management System, Occupational Health and Safety Management System, Quality Management System for the Port of Green Harbor have been initiated. In this context, all the deficiencies of the port were identified and notifications were made to the administration and many deficiencies were corrected. Medium and long in the process of revising the waste reception facility according to new ferries, obtaining environmental permission on wastewater discharge, conducting waste reception facility licensing processes, revising the temporary waste storage area, preferring led systems with sensors in lighting systems, meeting the electricity self consumption expenses of renewable energy sources If works such as project design and resource provision are to be concluded in 2020, a sustainable green label will be provided to the Tatvan Ferry Operations Directorate.
