Abstract (EN)
In Akçaağaç Enerji Üretim A.Ş., energy is produced by rapid pyrolysis of chicken manure. Solid waste generated during energy production is kept in a stockpile and causes environmental pollution. In this thesis, it has been studied that the biochar obtained from the Akçaağaç Biomass Energy Production Facility is first enriched by using coal enrichment methods and then activated carbon is produced by applying activation processes to the obtained concentrate. In this context, biochar was first subjected to a flotation process, and after the carbon content was increased, activated carbon was produced both with and without the use of a hydrothermal device. In the enrichment process with flotation, firstly the % solid ratio was determined, and then the flotation reagents to be used were determined. In the flotation process, kerosene and diesel oil were used as a collector, sodium silicate was used as a suppressor and MIBC (Methyl Isobutyl Carbinol) was used as a foamer. It was observed that the carbon content of the concentrate obtained as a result of the flotation experiments was increased from 33% to 47%. Activation experiments were carried out on the concentrates obtained from the flotation experiments in the activated carbon production process in HTC and in the muffle furnace, and then the studies were continued with the samples without KOH in HTC and with the samples that did not enter the HTC process in the muffle furnace. BET, UV and MM (Methylene Blue) adsorption analyzes were performed on the samples obtained, and the most suitable results were obtained in a muffle furnace that was subjected to HTC treatment at 200oC for 16 hours after flotation with kerosene, then Biochar /KOH =1/0.5. It was observed that it was obtained in the sample (S-17 coded sample with a surface area of 733.13 m2 /g), which was activated for 240 minutes at 600°C. In the methylene blue adsorption experiments of this sample, 99.54% extraction efficiency was obtained in 100 ml methylene blue solution, while 80.12% extraction efficiency was obtained in 300 mg/L methylene blue solution.
