Effect of ListexTM P100 bacteriophage on Listeria spp's isolated from chicken enterprises and chicken carcassess

Abstract (EN)

Chicken meat, which is not expensive compared to other animal-derived protein in many countries offers an important part of the daily diet; and because of its rich composition chicken meat is among many foods that cause food-borne infections and intoxication include. In this research, it is aimed to demonstrate the antilisterial affect of Listex P100 on Listeria spp.'s isolates from poultry enterprises running in the region of Cukuorova. Scalding tank water and cleaning water, three pieces of all chicken whole carcass and chicken body parts (thigh, breast, wing, liver) were used as materials. This study was conducted in two replications total of 42 samples were studied. FDA classical isolation method and selective enrichment plates PALCAM Agar have been used in isolation process. 31 pieces in total 42 samples of Listeria spp. was isolated. 8 strains of L.monocytgenes, 10 strains of L.inncoua, 8 strains of L.welshimeri, 2 strains of L.seeligeri and 3 strains of L.ivanovii were isolated by classical method from 31 isolates. When determining the affect od Listex P100 on Listeria spp.'s inoculated on chicken samples, It was seen that Phage P100 doses of 105, 106 and 10 7 POB/g resulted in reductions of 0.6, 1.1 and 2.2 log KOB/g of L. monocytogenes, respectively. the higher phage treatment of 108 POB/g was the most effective and resulted a 3.7-log KOB/g reduction in L. monocytogenes counts.
