Investigation of antibiotics resistances of Enterococcus isolates from chicken products and extended spectrum beta lactamases of E.coli

Abstract (EN)

In this study, 160 samples of chicken products (40 joint, 40 wing, 40 breast, 40 cut up chicken meats) which are collected from several supermarkets in Ankara were used as material. 130 Enterococcus and 200 E. coli isolated from the studied 160 food samples. In additional, 217 coliform microorganisms and 208 fecal coliform microorganisms isolated from the chicken samples. 200 (96,15%) E. coli of 208 fecal coliform microorganisms were found. The number of coliform and fecal coliform microorganisms are determined using Most Probable Number (MPN) method. The number of coliform microorganisms are determined between the values 96->1100 from the 46 (28,75%) of 160 chicken samples. The number of fecal coliform microorganisms are examined more than <3 in all of the 160 (100%) chicken samples. Antibiotic resistance of Enterococcus species was determined with Kirby-Bauer Disk Duffusion method. Extended spectrum beta lactamase (ESBL) production of E. coli isolates were determined. The production of ESBL is examined of isolated E. coli. The distribution rate of Enterococcus strains isolated from chicken samples was 35,4% E. faecalis, 24,6% E. faecium, 13,1% E. gallinarum, 9,2% E. mundtii, 6,9% E. durans, 5,4% E.raffinosus and 5,4% Enterococcus spp. The highest resistance of Enterococcus strains was streptomycin (90%), tetracycline (64,62%), eritromycin (54,62%), gentamycin (21,54%), novobiocin (20,77%), nitrofurantoin (13,85%) and ciprofloxacin (13,08%). Resistance vancomycin isolate wasn?t found. 67 (33,5%) of 200 identified E. coli isolates was found extended spectrum beta lactamases (ESBL) positive. The highest resistantce of ESBL positive E. coli species were determined against ampicilin (62,69%), tetracycline (46,27%), ciprofloxacin (38,81%), piperacillin (25,38%), gentamycin (19,41%), levofloxacin (17,92%) and cephalexin (11,95%). Resistance to imipenem, cefotaxime or amikacin wasn?t found.Key Words : Chicken Products, Enterococcus, E.coli, antibiotic
