Abstract (EN)
Development of a Tool to Measure Nurses Knowledge and Practice Levels in Medical Device Related Pressure Injuries The purpose of this research was to develop a valid and reliable measurement tool that will determine the knowledge and practice levels of nurses in medical device related pressure injuries. The research was methodologically carried between January 2021 and February 2021 with 189 nurses working in different clinics, including the wound care nurse position. In the development of the measurement tool, a prospective, psychometric development process consisting of 3 different stages was applied. In the first stage, the structure and content of the developed measurement tool was created. The items included in the measurement tool were created by the research team in the form of 4 multiple-choice and 21 questions reflecting questions in relationship with etiology/risk factor, prevention interventions and staging sub-titles, in line with current guidelines. In line with the second stage expert opinions, the necessary evidence for content validity was evaluated and the tool was pre-tested. Content validity was evaluated by 8 experts and pre-application was made with 10 nurses. In the last stage, the psychometric properties of the developed tool were evaluated. In this context, the answers given to the multiple-choice test questions were examined in terms of item difficulty, discrimination index, and distractor quality. Content validity based on expert opinion was used for the validity of the measurement tool, evidence of criterion validity with the application of a measurement tool measuring a similar feature, and test-retest method for reliability. Of the 189 nurses participating in the study, 29 nurses completed the test-retest procedure and 30 nurses completed the criterion validity procedure. In the analyzes made with expert opinions, the content validity index was found to be 0.75, 0.86 and 0.96 for the sub-titles of etiology/risk factors, prevention interventions and staging, respectively. The item difficulty values of the measurement tool consisting of 21 questions were between 0.18 at the lowest and 0.96 at the highest. In the test-retest analysis performed for reliability, it was determined that there was a positive, strong and significant relationship between the results and a positive, moderate and significant relationship between the tools applied for the proof of scale validity. TABBY-HBUBA is a suitable measurement tool for use in nursing education, research and clinical settings.
