Antimicrobial effects of essential oils of medicinal and aromatic plants on some fish pathogens

Abstract (EN)
In this study, antimicrobial effects and minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of essentil oil of Libya's 10 plant species (Artemisia herba alba, Capparis spinosa, Globularia alypum, Matricaria chamomilla, Ocimum basilicum, Origanum majorana, Peganum harmata, Phagnalon rupestre, Punica granatum (pomegranate) peel, Thymus vulgaris) were studied to four pathogenic bacteria (Yersinia ruckeri, Citrobacter freundii, Lactococcus gravicae, and Edwardsiella tarda), which are threatened and reproduced by fish breeding and caused the loss. Yersinia ruckeri and Citrobacter freundii were not affected essential of these plants for all doses. Lactoccus garvieae were affected the all doses of Peganum harmala essential oil, also 1000 µL dose of Thymus vulgaris. Edwardsiella tarda were affected the all doses of Thymus vulgaris, 1000 µL dose of Artemisia herba alba, Ocimum basilicum and Phagnalon rupestre. Also it is partially affected 1000 µL dose of Matricaria chamomilla.
