Research on cognitive functions and emotional situations of experienced chess players and beginner individuals

Aim: The Vienna test system is a computer-based assessment system that identifies the mental and cognitive functions of the brain used in psycho-technical measurement and evaluation, and reveals cognitive abilities. The intensive stimulus flow and stress response response rate and quality of individuals with the deterministic test (DT) found in the test battery, the continuous attention-problem solving ability and the concept with the Conitrone test (COG), the Standard Progressive Matrices (SPM) analytical exploratory, regular thinking and abstraction and the Tactical Traffic Detection test (TAVTMB) evaluates visual sensory memory performance. Materials and Methods: Since it is known that anxiety and depression affect cognitive function negatively, neuropsychological questionnaires reveal the psychological states of childhood individuals before the Vienna test system is applied; Children's anxiety disorder screening scale (CDSS) and depression scale for children (CDI) were used. The Edinburg Hand Preference questionnaire was used to measure the right and left handedness of cerebell laterizations as they were known to provide a variety of ability differences in the cognitive functions of the brain. Results:In our study, children who play chess games (7 to 16 years old) have emotional states of cognitive functioning, hand preference, anxiety and depression in groups; it was compared with chess experiment, gender and age. Conclusion: It was concluded that chess play may be a positive contribution to both the cognitive skills and the emotional state.
