The impact of supply chain processes and best practices on supply chain performance

As a result of increasing competition and globalizing economy, companies that have a good supply chain performance gain a significant competitive advantage. Disruptions in supply chain adversely affected the financial performance of the companies. Therefore, companies started working on increasing their supply chain performance. In this study, processes and practices that affect Supply Chain performance have been investigated. While determining the processes and best practices, SCOR model has been taken as a reference to ensure standardization and facilitate the applicability of the model developed by the end of the study. When evaluating the performance, the study focused on the reliability dimension and the performance has been measured with the Perfect Order Fulfillment Ratio. In the first stage of the study, the impact of Level 1 and Level 2 processes in the SCOR model on performance have been investigated. The processes with the highest impact were identified and 43 good practices related to these processes were specified. In the following stage, the components of the Perfect Fulfillment Ratio have been weighted with AHP method. Using these weights, the impact of 43 good practices on performance have been evaluated and the good practices were weighted with TOPSIS method. In the last stage of the study, an application of the developed model has been carried out in the industry and a strong relationship has been found between the usage of the identified good practices and the Perfect Order Fulfillment Rate. At the end of the study, a samaple model -constrained by the scope of the study- has been developed where good practices with the highest impact on supply chain performance are identifed along with their impact degrees. Using this model, companies within the scope can calculate their own scores and compare them with other companies. The higher the execution score calculated according to the model, the higher the Perfect Order Fulfillment Rate is expected to be. Using this methodology, other studies can be completed with different scopes and additional models can be developed. With these models, companies will be able to see which processes and practices they should focus on to improve their performance. This study aims to show a different perspective for companies that want to improve their supply chain performance. This study is also expected to make an important contribution to the literature by investigating the relationship between standard supply chain processes and practices and Supply Chain performance, while taking the SCOR model as a reference.
