The efffects of outsourcing in supply chain management on firms: A survey in İzmir city

In order to survive in a highly competitive environment, firms need to be successful in all activities in the function chain of supply chain processes ranging from raw materials to end customers. This thought has led firms to seek various ways in this process. At the beginning of these searches are outsourcing. In the main functions of supply chain management, firms have turned to outsourcing to focus on their own areas of expertise, to maximize their profits, to reduce costs and to increase efficiency. In the first part of the thesis, which is composed of three parts, the concepts of supply chain management, supply chain management basic activities, goals and benefits are mentioned. In the second part, the development, characteristics, objectives and advantages and disadvantages of outsourcing within the scope of outsourcing in supply chain management are mentioned. The last section is in the application phase; In İzmir province, there is an application that evaluates outsourcing of supply chain management of firms operating in nine organized industrial zones which are the partners of Aegean Region Chamber of Industry. In this survey, it is aimed to determine whether outsourcing in supply chain management has an impact on firms, whether outsourcing is used in supply chain management, what are the reasons for outsourcing, and the results of outsourcing. As a result of the analysis, it has been observed that a significant portion of the firms prefer to go outsourcing in the supply chain management function areas by transferring them to the specialized suppliers.
