Selection model of spare parts supply methods in supply chain management: Application in international computer company

It is the responsibility of Computer (PC) companies to provide 2 years of warranty and 5 years of repair responsibility for the products which they sell in the Turkey Computer (PC) market, which will be valid from the date of invoice, within the obligations of the "Consumer Rights Protection Law 6502". In addition, they are obliged to complete this repair responsibility within 21 working days. In case of failure of these products, companies are faced with the obligation to plan the demand for the parts that may be needed for repair activities within the scope of after-sales repair and maintenance services. Due to the complex and dynamic nature of computer spare parts supply, problems such as poor Material Planning and Management, high prices, and delays in supply cause low productivity as well as legal imposition. The main purpose of this study is to analyze the spare parts procurement selection process. Within the scope of the study, the criteria to be considered while making the decision to choose the best procurement method are mentioned. With the In-depth Interview, the opinions of the experts in the sector were taken and their contents were analyzed, and these criterias and the procurement methods used were determined and tabulated. A hierarchical model was developed from the data obtained through the evaluation form with pairwise comparisons. After this created model, an application for the best criterion and the best supply selection is included in our study. The research was based on the opinions of the managers of the 4 big companies, which have a 77.5% share of the Turkish PC industry, and the best procurement method was selected by evaluating the four alternative procurement methods with the Analytical Hierarchy Process Method.
