Utilization of blockchain technology in supply chain: A practice on the customs sector

Nowadays because of the increasing global competition and increasing and diversified desires and needs of customers make it difficult for companies to survive. Companies are trying to find a way to reduce their costs so as not to reduce their profitability in the fight against increased competition. The cost of supply chains in a company is a big part of its expenses. With the digitization of supply chains and good integration, it is possible to achieve the lowest cost and highest efficiency. With the development of technology, new approaches have been put to use in the industry, agriculture and service sectors. At this point, Blockchain technology comes to scene as a new concept with pilot applications in limited areas. It is thought that blockchain technology, which is determined to save time by accelerating processes, reduce costs, abandon classical paper-based transactions, get rid of the paperwork procedure and therefore gain operational efficiency, prevent errors and missing steps and false statements, can be used at all stages of supply chains. In this study, the obstacles to the implementation of blockchain technology in the customs sector, which is an important stakeholder in the supply chain, and the advantages that this technology will provide to customs processes have been investigated. In the study, in-depth interviews and observations were applied from qualitative research methods. Purpose-based questions were prepared with the opinions of industry prayers and directed to the participants. At the end of the study, it was determined by the application in the field of customs that the use of blockchain technology in the supply chain will be efficient.
