Tafsir Uveys b. Hoca Osman b. Emir İlyas b. Evliya (1b-119a) (Analysis-text-grammatical index-dictionary)

In the era of Old Oghuz Turkish, among the works written in prose, Qur'an commentaries hold a distinct place. The Qur'an, which is the source of the Islamic religion, has been read and attempted to be understood by Muslims. After the Turks embraced Islam, they immediately turned their attention to the translation of the guiding book of their newly accepted religion into their own languages. The commentary text that is the subject of our study is a comprehensive commentary that includes extensive explanations related to the verses, as well as various narrations and stories. It was written by Uveys b. Hoca Osman b. Emir Ilyas b. Evliya and is housed in the Prussian Cultural Heritage/Berlin State Library under the Orientalische Manuscripts category, with the project number PPN651791340. Through research, twelve works believed to belong to the commentator have been identified. When the text is examined in terms of language, it is noteworthy that some Turkish words are used in religious terminology and narratives. Our aim is to bring this commentary to light and contribute it to the scientific world, to determine the linguistic characteristics of the period in which it was written, to examine it in terms of phonetics and morphology, and to prepare an index and dictionary to reveal its vocabulary. Another aim is to support the presentation of the process that the Turkish language has undergone from the Old Turkish period to the present day. Keywords: Commentary of the Qur'an by Uveys b.
