Abstract (EN)

When we look at the Arabic and Turkish literature that emerged in the modern period, it is seen that the opinion that tafsir did not seek an independent and independent method from other sciences in the early and classical period. However, the fact that the questioning of whether there was a search for a unique method in tafsir in the early and classical period is made only on some classical works that deal with and compile the Qur'anic sciences, which expresses the analysis of the issue from a limited perspective. Because this literature, excluding the mentions of adebü'l-müfessir, is content to provide us with information and narration material on the Qur'an and tafsir sciences to a large extent, and does not examine independent sciences from the perspective of seeking a method. However, looking at the tafsir literature from this point of view since the early period, traces of the search for a method specific to the science of tafsir can be found both in the tafsir introductions and in the stand-alone works. In some of the related studies, it is seen that there is a search for a method accompanied by some formations such as fiqh and kalam, but it is noticed that there are also those who try to make this search specific to tafsir. Based on the above-mentioned determinations, this study aims to determine the historical factors that prepared the emergence of the search for method in tafsir, the changes-transformations that took place in the process, and the distance covered by the search for method in the context of specificity in tafsir, in the context of characteristic texts. In this framework, first of all, the political and theological factors of the search for method in tafsir are examined. In this framework, first of all, the political and theological factors of the search for method in tafsir are examined. Afterwards, it is analyzed that the authors produce theoretical interpretation mechanisms and put forward concrete rules in practical terms in their search for method. Finally, the success of the method searches in question in terms of specificity in interpretation is checked. As a result, it is determined that the search for methods specific to tafsir emerged from the early period. It is clearly observed that these pursuits have progressed at certain levels. Therefore, this thesis study reveals that, contrary to the prevailing opinion in the modern period, the search for methods specific to tafsir started from the early period, although not at a perfect level.
