Abstract (EN)

Cylindirical parts machined by turning are ground to obtain required surface quality and dimensional precision in many fields of industry. These processes increase the cost and slow down the production speed. The studies doing on turn-milling process have accelerated to eliminate the negativeness of these processes recently. A new production method, namely: tangential turn-milling method was developped in this study.Since the new method is a combination of turning and milling processes, tangential turn-milling process has more cutting parameters. Taguchi method was implemented as the experimental design method since the investigation of cutting parameters of tangential turn-milling method requires both longer time and higher cost.Three different materials C1040 steel, AISI 304 stainless steel and brass (MS58), giveing different chip form, were used in experiments. The surface roughness of these materials was measured after machining. A mathematical model developed for surface roughness depending on the experimental surface roughness. The results were analyzed by variance and residual analysis methods. The cutting force was calculated by the geometrical model of cutting.As a result; it was concluded that tangential turn-milling method provided a surface having grinding quality.
