Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted descriptively in order to determine the relationship between psychosocial risks and mental health of workers in dangerous workplace.The study was conducted in a dangerous class workplace in İzmir between May and July 2018. The sample of the study consisted of 360 people in this workplace. The data were collected using the Copenhagen Psychosocial Risk Assessment Scale, General Health Questionnaire and socio-demographic information form. Number and percentage distribution and chi-square analysis were used in the evaluation of the data. Results: When the psychological health of the workers was examined in terms of psychosocial risks; they have low scores on the sub-dimensions of the influence at work, possibilities of development, control over working time, meaning of work, commitment to the workplace, predictability, recognition, role clarity, quality of leadership, social support from supervisors, sense of community, trust, organizational justice, job satisfaction and their mental health is worse. In addition, it was found that those who have high scores on the sub-dimension of work-life conflict and burnout have worse mental health. The majority of the workers were found to be at risk for mental illness. Conclusion: According to the findings of the study, it is recommended to evaluate the psychosocial risks, which have negative effects on mental health in this workplace in detail, to plan nursing interventions and to develop programs for improving the mental health of the workers.Keywords: Mental health, psychosocial risk, occupational health, stress, risk
