An examination on crime facts and rates in individuals raised by a single parent

The primary aim of this research is to determine the rate at which individuals raised in single-parent families tend toward delinquency, as well as to identify the sociological, economic, and psychological factors influencing this phenomenon. The impact of changes in family structure on children's developmental processes and their inclination toward criminal behavior has been examined from a sociological perspective. This study was conducted using quantitative research methods. A survey model was employed to identify the tendencies of individuals raised in single-parent households toward delinquent behavior. The sample of the study consists of individuals aged between 12 and 18 who are serving sentences at the Sincan Juvenile Closed Penal Institution. Data were obtained through literature review, fieldwork, and analyses. Descriptive statistics and relational tests (e.g., chi-square test) were used in the data analysis. Findings indicate that children raised in single-parent families are more likely to engage in criminal activities due to the anomie and tensions associated with their family structure. Moreover, the study emphasizes the role of a healthy family environment in the social and emotional development of individuals. This research offers suggestions for the development of social policies and the creation of support programs targeting single-parent families. The results of the study may serve as a guide for developing strategies aimed at reducing juvenile delinquency
