vSPEED CONTROL OF A SINGLE-PHASE ASYNCHRONOUS MOTOR(M.Sc. Thesis)Deniz TAŞTANGAZİ UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYSeptember 2006ABSTRACTInduction motors are the most commonly used motors in electrical applications.Specially squirrel cage slip-ring motors have superior characteristics ; ease ofproduction, simple and robust construction, high reliability and efficiency, decreased manufacturing and operational cost. In this thesis, the speed-controlof single phase asynchronous motor was realized. A pulse-width Modulated(PWM) inverter is used as the speed regulator unit. Operational characteristicsof Mosfets, inverters, asynchronous motors are alsa given in general. The studycovers MOSFET power transistors and their mosfet drivers, crystal oscillator, temperature control unit and an isolating unit. Output power stage of the unitfeeds a 125W mono-phase induction motor. Motor speed control is provided byfrequency control of the oscillator using a trim-pot.Science Code : 905.1.035Key Words : Single phase induction motor, invertor, mosfetPage Number : 122Adviser : Yrd.Doc.Dr Fadıl Çelikkol
