SUMMARY THE OPTIMIZATION OF SINGLE PASSING CROSS FLOW PLATE HEAT EXCHANGERS Key Words: Plate heat exchangers, Fin The aim of this study is to increase the efficiency of the plate heat exchanger in the case of employing and not employing constructive considerations to interrupt the fluid mixing. This study is constituted from experimental and theoretical parts The efficiency of plate heat exchangers is explained. In this study, both experimental and theoretical studies were carried out to evaluate the effect of fins on the heat fluxes. Fins formed by using sheet iron contact a certain place on parallel plates. This contact increases thermal conduction resistance and prevents fluid mixing. Consequently, the temperature gradient increase resulted from using fin. The extend of the study: With the principle of a difisute geometry, the calculating of the heat transfer with fin and without fin separately and determining the results by testing the reality and finding out the gain and loss when using the fin materials as a heat transferring surface. The experimental results by using fin show that, since the heat transfer is increased 12 %, the amount of material necessary for production is rise up approximately 3 times. A good agreement between the results of experimental and empirical equations in the literature is also observed. xm
