Abstract (EN)
Objective: Our aim in this study was to investigate the clinical and functional results of high tibial osteotomy surgery performed for medial compartment arthrosis. In addition, it is aimed to present general information about high tibial osteotomy surgery, its history, indications, contraindications, complications, knee joint anatomy, and kinematics. Material and Method: Fourty patients diagnosed with medial compartment arthrosis and varus deformity treated surgically with HTO between 2022 and 2024 in Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University Training and Research Hospital Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology were included in the study. Thirty-two of the patients were female and twenty were male. The mean follow-up period of the cases was 6 months. The patients' pre and postoperative balance, propriocepsion, stability, OXFORD, WOMAC and varus angulation values and fall risk skores were evaluated. In addition to these, name, surname, gender, age and body mass index (BMI) were used as demographic data. Results: In our study, when balance, fall risk score and proprioception deviation change values were evaluated compared to preoperative values in patients who underwent surgery due to medial compartment arthrosis, significant results were obtained after surgery. Proprioception and balance disorders, which are considered as risk factors in the etiology of gonarthrosis, showed positive changes after high tibial osteotomy surgery. We believe that more patients and a sufficient number of studies are needed to understand the importance of proprioception and sense of balance in the etiology of gonarthrosis. Keywords: High tibial osteotomy, proprioception, stability, balance
