Abstract (EN)

The Republican regime has ensured that radical and permanent innovations are experienced in Isparta, as in all provinces of Anatolia. With the Republic, public works and zoning activities, which were almost never found in the province, started. The city development plân was implemented, highways were built and a railway was introduced. In the modern sense, water transportation and sewage services of the province were also realized in this period. In the field of communication, in addition to the post and telegraph, a telephone has been added, and long distance telephone wires have been laid. On the other hand, the rehabilitation and reconstruction of state institutions accelerated and new hospitals and schools were opened. During this period, the prison and the Child Protection Agency were renewed and they were allowed to continue their activities. With the opening of national bank branches, agricultural credit cooperatives were established in the province. The printing house, which was brought to Isparta one year before the Republic, accelerated its work with the proclamation of the Republic and printed local newspapers and magazines. Reforms such as the Unification of Education and Harf Revolution made by the Republican administration throughout the country in the field of education have also found application in Isparta. With the opening of primary and secondary schools, educational activities in the province gained momentum. The Republic administration transformed the small handicraft businesses in Isparta into large and modern factories with the reforms it made in the field of industry. These factories; Isparta Yarn Factory and Yalvaç Leather Factory opened in 1926 and Rose Oil factory opened in 1935. Apart from these newly opened factories, the leather factory and Keçiborlu Sulfur Factory have been rehabilitated. The Agricultural Development Union was established in 1945 to improve agriculture and animal husbandry in Isparta. Intensive veterinary services were initiated for the development of animal husbandry, and various diseases were fought for agriculture. The understanding of service to the nation is dominant on the basis of the administrative and political provincial organization of the administration in the first years of the Republic. This understanding devotes all country resources to economic and social development. Between 1923-1950, twenty different names from Isparta served as MPs in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Hafız İbrahim Demiralay (6 terms was elected), Hüseyin Hüsnü Özdamar (6 terms), Kemal Turan Ünlü (5 terms) and Kazım Aydar (2 terms) became prominent members of parliament with their services. During the same years, nine different Governors took part in the administrative organization. Durmuş Bey (1930-1932) and Fevzi Daldal (1932-1939) became prominent governors. In the same period, the services of Hilmi Çakmakçı, among seven different mayors, were at the forefront. Anahtar Kelimeler: Republic, Single Party, Isparta, Local History
