Abstract (EN)

Energy efficiency continues to gain importance in the world day by day. Electrical machines are responsible for most of the electricity consumption. Therefore, with a small increase in the efficiency of the machine, a large energy-saving can be achieved. The development of electrical machines requires accurate measurement of losses in the machine. An important part of the losses in electrical machines is caused by core losses.Reduction of core losses is one of the most important steps to deal with the energy problem. When the magnetic flux density or the frequency increases, the magnetic losses increase. Producing efficient device which works at different frequencies and flux density is essential nowadays. Accurate measurement of core losses is required to improve the efficiency of the machine during the machine design. Core loss data, usually within a limited range of frequency and flux density is provided by steel producers. These data are not sufficient to estimate the core losses of electrical machines.In this study, mentioned with interest in scientific communities in recent years due to the advantages, SST tester is proposed and implemented for core loss measurement. With the magnetization current method the magnetic field strength, current values and core losses are calculated, core loss curves were obtained for various frequencies and magnetic flux. Then, with the help of test core loss values, the loss coefficient was found using curve fitting method. Through the obtained hysteresis, eddy current and abnormal core loss coefficient, the loss models of the core materials have been developed.Often the core loss values only at 50Hz frequency are given by the core manufacturers. For efficient electromagnetic machine design, core losses must be known at wide frequency and magnetic flux density ranges. The study was carried out using the method of magnetizing current. For loss measurements, SST core loss tester is designed. In the literature, there is no study for determination of the loss coefficients with SST which is worked with the magnetization current method. This thesis aims to contribute to the literature by working on this issue. The core loss tests were carried out with SST device at variable frequency and magnetic flux density conditions. Core loss models have been developed with the help of the obtained values. Through the loss models, in the frequency range of 50Hz to 500Hz for different flux densities, core loss values were calculated.
