Özet (EN)
The aim of this study was to evaluate the dental and skeletal effects of a new designed mini-screw supported unilateral molar distalization system. The sample of this study consisted of two groups. Each groups included 17 patients who had Angle class II subdivision molar relationship. The 1.6 x 8 mm in dimensions mini-screw was inserted from the vestibule interradicular site between canine and first premolar on the border of attached and free gingiva. After bonding the first molar bands, 17x25 inch stainless steel wire was bent like stairs with the lower step passing through the auxillary tube of the molar band and upper step passing through the horizontal slot of the mini-screw. The force passed through the center of resistance, open coil springs were placed between the mini-screw and the crimpable hooks placed on the wire with a force of 230 gr.Upper first molar had 5.09±1.38 mm of distalization with 7.88±3.02 degrees of distal tipping. Upper second molar had 3.91±1.41 mm of distalization with 4.65±2.58 degrees of distal tipping. At the same time first and second molars had 7.29±2.230 and 4.65±2.58 degrees of distopalatal rotation, respectively. Premolars were also distalized simultaneously with the molar distalization by the help of transceptal fibers although no direct force were applied to these teeth. No statistically significant skeletal effects were detected after the application of this newly designed distalization system. It was concluded that this newly designed mini-screw supported molar distalizasition system can be a very efficient technique for clinical practice.
