Evaluation of the arsenic situations of the soils of wild storage areas in Tekirdag Malkara district neighborhood

This study was carried out to determine the arsenic status of soil samples taken from 18 landfills and around 3 different points in Malkara District of Tekirdağ Province in 2016-2017. The results of the analysis of 54 soil samples at 18 different points were investigated, and the arsenic values found in soil samples were evaluated according to the Regulation on Soil Pollution Control and Point Source Contaminated Sites. Also samples were taken from the land at distances from the wild storage areas and arsenic content of these soils were determined and the damages of arsenic in terms of soil pollution were investigated within the framework of the findings. It is thought that the arsenic concentration is at the highest level in the territory of point A at Sarnic, Hereke, Ballı, Balabancık, Ahievren, Kermeyan, Karacahalil, Allıışık, Çavuşköy, Yörük, Gözsüz and Sağlamtaş neighborhoods and this is due to the fact that the soil is located in the garbage dump center. However, the excess of arsenic in the territory of point B in the neighborhoods of Ibribey and Izgar is attributed to the high percentage of clay in the soils. The high concentration of arsenic in point C is found in the Sahin, Müstecep, Karacagür and Kozyörük districts, and it is estimated that high concentrations in these soils may result from the discarding of pesticides.
