Natural environment characteristics and land use of Tekkeköy district (Samsun)

This study deals with the natural environment conditions and land use of Tekkeköy, which is the smallest central district of Samsun, located in the Central Black Sea Region of the Black Sea Region. The main purpose of the research is to examine the natural environment conditions and land use of Tekkeköy and its surroundings in detail within the framework of geographical principles such as distribution, relationship, comparison and causality and to reinterpret the existing literature with the obtained data in the light of up-to-date information. The shaping of the study was carried out in three stages. In the first stage, the relevant literature was searched and articles, theses, satellite images, documents received from official institutions and organizations, data sets, maps and reports were examined together. In the second stage, field studies were carried out. Field studies on the geomorphological elements in and around Tekkeköy were carried out, the natural environment features were examined and photographs of the site were taken. In the third and last stage, all the obtained data and findings were evaluated together by supporting with maps and visuals, necessary analyzes were made and inferences were made and the results were synthesized. Depending on the findings of the study, preventing unplanned urbanization and making sustainable plans by preventing the establishment of industrial facilities, settlement centers, hotels and sports facilities in the Tekkeköy coastal plain and delta plain and coastal plain, narrowing of the first class agricultural lands and preventing misuse of land, preventing the fillings made on the coasts. It is recommended to the decision makers that the coasts should be stopped, the coasts should be left to their natural development and the wrong coastal use should be stopped.
