Relationships among entrepreneurial marketing, entrepreneurial orientation and business performance in techno-enterprises

Abstract (EN)

This study aims to identify demographic characteristics and profile of techno-enterprises and to assess the relationships among entrepreneurial marketing, entrepreneurial orientation and business performance in techno-enterprises. The target population of the study consists of techno-entrepreneurs in Turkey. The accessible population was identified as all techno-entrepreneurs registered on teknoag.sanayi.gov.tr webpage. Convenient sampling method was used and 142 techno-entrepreneurs participated in the study. Entrepreneurial marketing and entrepreneurial orientation scales were analyzed by confirmatory factor analysis and business performance scale was analyzed by exploratory factor analysis. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to examine if entrepreneurial orientation predicted entrepreneurial marketing. Hierarchical regression was used to examine if entrepreneurial orientation and entrepreneurial marketing predicted business performance. Results of the study revealed that overall number of techno-entrepreneurs are middle-aged men with advanced level of education and work experience. The majority of techno-enterprises consists of the ones which made their first sale in the country, supported by the Government or private sector and with no patents. Results also show that entrepreneurial orientation predicts entrepreneurial marketing and business performance but entrepreneurial marketing does not predict business performance.
