The importance of technoparks in local development and the effects of technoparks on R&D, innovation, entrepreneurship: The case of Malatya Technopark

Local and regional development is one of the topics that has attracted great attention in both academic and political fields in recent years. R&D, innovation and entrepreneurship play an important role in development together with the technopark. Technological advances and economic changes have made development strategies at local and regional levels even more important. The processes that form the basis of local development; To develop and improve economic, social, cultural and technological structures. Advances in technology and innovative approaches are one of the important factors affecting this process. In this context, technoparks established to promote Innovation, Research and Development (R&D) activities play an important role in local and regional development. Technoparks, where advanced technologies are produced, play a very important role in order to get rid of technological dependence on foreign sources and to become a competitive economy in the world that produces technology. As a result of the studies and policies implemented for the economic development and growth of our country, the number of Technoparks in Turkey has reached 98 today in order to ensure cooperation between universities and industry. The main purpose of this study is to examine the importance of R&D and innovation in development, the contribution of Malatya Technopark to the city's economy and employment, the creation of new job areas, and the tax incentive and exemption application areas that Malatya Technopark provides to the companies in Malatya Technopark. In this study, Malatya Technopark's contribution to the local economy, tax incentive and exemption application areas were examined in line with the data obtained from books, magazines, articles and electronic sources. As a result, in order to ensure local development and sustainable growth, we should focus on technology, R&D and innovation, and for this purpose, the financial supports offered for R&D activities in our country should be made more attractive and encouraging for companies. In this regard, it may be recommended to support investments in R&D activities and support projects to be carried out within the scope of R&D investments.
